TOES

Kroppsklubben turns the hierarchies of the body upside down, elevating toes from bottom to top and placing these toes in the spotlight. Inspired by the movements of the very youngest children, this performance meets the young audience at their own level, crawling, slithering and rolling.

TOES is performed by twenty toes and two dancers, to newly composed music. The wayward notes of the music come from the toes, the toes themselves playing the instruments that the composer used to create music. Throughout the performance, the dancers, along with the music, play very close to the floor, at the same height and level as the young children watching. With inspiration gained from the movements of very young children and a self-evident approach to their own and others' bodies, we dance across the floor. We shuffle, crawl, slither, roll, balance, paw and tiptoe.
Toes are individuals but also always a collective, one by one, constantly however in contact with their loved ones. Toes, which after we have learned to walk carry us through life, bring us down to earth, give us air under our wings and fly out onto the dance floor!
